Services

By Word of Mouth provides a variety of Speech-Language Therapy services in Atlanta, Dunwoody, Decatur, Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Marietta, Midtown, Dekalb, Norcross, and other Atlanta areas, including:

Speech & Language Screenings: Screenings are designed to provide parents with the answer to their most pressing question: Might my child have a Speech or Language impairment?  Does my child need Speech-Language Therapy? Screenings probe age expected skills to determine whether your child’s sound system and language skills are developing typically or if they are at risk for a Speech and/or Language difficulty.  Screenings are less thorough than Speech-Language Evaluations, and are generally offered to large groups, such as classrooms or schools.

Speech & Language Evaluations:  Evaluations are designed to provide parents with a thorough and comprehensive “picture” of their child’s Speech and Language strengths, as well as areas that may require intervention through Speech Language Therapy.  Evaluations are followed by an in-depth report that parents may share with their child’s teachers, physician and/or other service professionals.

Speech Therapy: If your child has difficulty pronouncing sounds or difficulty being understood in conversation, Speech Therapy can significantly improve your child’s skills.  See our guide titled “Does your child need Speech-Language Therapy” for guidelines on sound development.

Language Therapy: Language skills include both understanding what you hear and expressing unique ideas accurately, efficiently and successfully.  Early intervention, family involvement and intensive Language Therapy can help your child to be successful socially, academically and professionally.

Sibling/Group Therapy: Conducting therapy within a group is a fun, effective, and functional way for your child(ren) to improve their speech, language, and social skills!  Combine individual Speech Language Therapy with group therapy, and give your child an opportunity to show off their newfound skills to siblings and friends!

Social Skills Training:  Connecting with peers is one of the most important aspects of a child’s life.  We work with children, adolescents and families to improve social success  and self esteem, as well as create supportive real life social environments.

Oral Motor and Feeding Therapy: Laying the foundations for speech development and feeding skills, Oral Motor Therapy is designed to improve the strength and range of motion of your child’s lips, cheeks, tongue and jaw.

Classroom and In-Home Consultations: Some children have difficulty using their skills in the classroom or at home.  On site consultations will help teachers, caregivers, and families to incorporate Speech Language Therapy techniques at school and home, as well as foster more efficient speech, language, and social skill acquisition.
